After receiving both his undergraduate and medical degrees from Tulane University in New Orleans, Dr. Youman completed an internship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Hematology at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota.

Dr. Youman is the author of six publications and a member of several professional organizations, including the American Societies of Clinical Oncology and Hematology and a fellow of the American College of Physicians. An active clinical researcher, Dr. Youman is board certified in Internal Medicine and Hematology. He is in private practice with Southwest Regional Cancer Center in Austin and Marble Falls. Dr. Youman is an active cyclist, having biked 30,000 miles in the past 15 years. He and his wife, Sandy especially loves family gatherings at their ranch in Star, Texas and travel for active vacations.
