A graduate of Davidson College in North Carolina and a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha, Dr.Tweedy received his doctorate from the Medical College in Richmond, Virginia. He completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology at the Wilford Hall United States Air Force Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas.

Dr. Tweedy is certified by both the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Medical Oncology. He is a published author and a member of several professional organizations, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the Society of Air Force Physicians. An active clinical researcher, Dr. Tweedy is a private practitioner with Southwest Regional Cancer Center.
