A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha, Dr. Towell received her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School in Houston. Continuing her medical training at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, she completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine, a research fellowship in hematology and a clinical fellowship in Hematology and Oncology.

A private practitioner in Austin, she is board certified in Internal Medicine, Oncology and Hematology. Dr. Towell is a published author, clinical researcher and a member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Physicians, the American Societies of Clinical Oncology, Hematology and Internal Medicine.
